Home Sales Rise in February

There is optimistic news involving the housing market! Home sales rose 8.2% in February according to the National Association of Realtors. This is great news considering analysts expected home sales to stay flat. The increase in sales is at least in some way due to the First Time Home Buyer tax credit, which expires soon. Buyers have to be under contract by April 30 and close by June 30 to receive the tax credit. Economists hope this is the first sign that the housing market has begun to pull out of its rut.
